Governor Vacancies
Dear Community Members,
We have vacancies to join our Academy Governance Committee, as a parent governor or a community governor. Governors are very valued and important members of the Committee for our lovely village school.
The role of the AGC is one of monitoring and support in:
- Pursuance of the Trust’s vision of ‘working together for each child to realise their God given potential to flourish’.
- Setting an academy specific vision and values, aligned with the Trust’s and Church of England’s vision in terms of helping the academy to set and ‘live out’ its vision and values, utilising knowledge and understanding of the local community.
- Be the eyes and ears for the Board in assuring compliance with the law and policies - safeguarding, H&S, SEND, Equality and breadth of educational experience.
- Develop supportive relationships with the community and church, church school distinctiveness and SIAMS.
- Community relationships with the whole community inside and around the academy (including pupil voice, parental voice, wellbeing etc.)
- Be a ‘sounding board’ and provide support to the Headteacher as a ‘critical friend’ and the whole academy community.
Meetings are held once per half term, for approximately one to two hours. We are a small and very friendly group, who are keen to welcome new members on board, subject to appropriate DBS checks.
In your role as a governor, you will be supported in your duties by other experienced members of the AGC, the Headteacher, the PDET’s Central Team and the Clerk to governors.
If you would like to find out more or are interested, please contact Jo Sail in the school office - additionally, we can put you in touch with some of our current governors to discuss the role further.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Mrs Dowsett
